It is my “ho-OM.” It is here where my journey began and all subsequent journeys have been rooted. The Kula Yoga Shala will always be at the center of my heart’s reverberation. It is here where I began to discover myself, and I found my own heartbeat. The initiation of my Yoga adventure began in Jupiter, Florida, at the Kula Yoga Shala. A place I had been drawn to since the 1970s. When I stopped thinking, my heart led me to a journey within. ![]() Some people call this an awakening or enlightenment, but I call it following my heart and silencing my mind. More importantly, I realized that this draw I had for so many years toward the practice of Yoga had found its home within me I felt home. I became conscious of my non-conscious effort to be in alignment. I began to notice that the journey my body was taking on the mat was flowing through me off the mat. Each occurrence arrived without consciousness or cues but rather with what my Guru calls an “opening to grace.” Yoga poses began to manifest their way into my body while standing in line at the grocery, waiting for my dog to relieve herself, and while taking command of the steering wheel in a way that brought my spine into alignment. ![]() Within two weeks of establishing a steady Yoga practice, I noticed the practice seemed to spread into other aspects of my life off of the mat. I noticed a transformation of my physical self in terms of strength, flexibility, and muscle tone. In the beginning, my Yoga journey appeared to be in the physical body.
